C. Griffith's Plant Spotlight: Flame Acanthus

While we are recommending putting some thought into preparing your landscape property for the Spring growing season, you might want to consider this flowering Texas Native shrub that is visually appealing as well as wildlife friendly. Friendly in the fact that it provides food/shelter for bees, butterflies, and birds while being deer resistant as well.

Flame Acanthus (aka Wright’s Mexican flame, Hummingbird bush, Wright’s desert honeysuckle, Wright acanthus, Mexican flame, Wright Anisacanth, Muicle) once established requires whatever water mother nature provides (within reason) and can be a small investment with substantial return over a short period of time. Producing red flowers through mid summer until fall, the shrub can grow to approximately 3' - 4' in height.

As always..feel free to contact us for any questions regarding your questions and/or ideas for improving your personal or business landscape property.
